Dziewczyna Z Sasiedztwa and more news from Poland...

Hot off the presses, is a beautiful edition of Dziewczyna Z Sasiedztwa (The Girl Next Door), from Poland. Yet another stunning cover that helps pay off the karmic debt of the infamous "cheerleader" edition of the original paperback.
In other news from Poland, Jack will be attending Dni Fantastyki, in Wrocław, from June 25-27. A little about the event:

Dni Fantasyki was founded in 2003, and is held every year in the beautiful baroque castle of Leśnica. It is visited by thousands of people from around the country. The event centers around everything connected with fantasy, science-fiction, and horror, with literature being the main focus. As well as lectures and speeches given by the authors, Dni Fantastyki offers film screenings, discussion panels, book presenations and other more informal events. Every year a prominent figure from within these fields is selected to be a special guest. In the past few years, Dni Fantastyki has been visited by Graham Masterton, Alastair Reynolds, and other prominent European writers.

Dni Fantastyki is organized by CK "Zamek", a non-profit organization, with the help of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Urząd Miasta (Town Hall) in Wrocław.

Two new foreign language editions of Jack's books have recently been published.

First is a Korean edition of The Girl Next Door, from Lightning-Rod Books, with a beautiful and thought provoking cover. This one looks great on the book shelf with the other recent editions of this gut-wrenching classic.

Also available, is Wahnsinn, the German translation of Stranglehold/Only Child. Once again, Heyne Verlag delivers a killer translation, and a stunning edition.

French News

Continuing with the quality work of their French editions of Une Fille Comme les Autres (The Girl Next Door), and Morte Saison (Off Season), L'Ombre de Bragelonne has recently published Benoit Domis's translation of Stranglehold/Only Child, titled Fils Unique.

Like the other editions, this is a trade paperback.

Lest there be any doubt as to just how good these editions are, Morte Saison was recently awarded the 2009 Prix Masterton Award for best translated work.
